Commercially focused, we offer clients market flexibility, with early maturity and high growth lambs suited to both domestic and export markets.
Rams are bred to perform, with a strong emphasis on fertility, growth and carcass quality, equating to more red meat kilograms per hectare for the prime lamb producer.
Hovell Stud is a family enterprise run by Rod and Ange Frohling on their 600ha property, "Oak Hill", 5km south of Burrumbuttock, in southern NSW, in the heart of the sheep-wheat zone.
Set in the Majors Creek valley in a 600mm rainfall zone, Hovell consists of red brown earth soils rising to granite outcrops. The property is run as a mixed enterprise of stud sheep, Angus cattle, cereal and oilseed crops grown in rotation with perennial pasture.
Hovell Stud carries 250 White Suffolk, 350 Border Leicester and 700 Poll Dorset ewes, under high stocking rates.
